Clear aligners are trays,
like just a retainer,
the clear piece of plastic
that fit intimately over your teeth.
There's slight changes in those trays
that actually push your teeth
to a new spot.
We make a series of trays
anywhere from minimal cases,
could be 10 trays,
to 50 cases if they're complex trays.
Most patients that would like to correct
their smile, their teeth,
the way their teeth come together
are good candidates for clear aligners.
You need to be able to wear them
all the time, keep up with them,
and take them out
to clean your teeth after you eat
and then put them back.
We take a three-dimensional scan
of your mouth
that way we know where the bone is
and the teeth are in the bone
and then we take a scan
with a digital camera
to make a model of your teeth
and we will plan the case.
We will take where the teeth are now
and where the teeth are going to be
we move them inside the 3D model,
we move them inside the bone
to make sure the teeth stay in the bone.
While having clear aligner treatment,
there are some modifications
that you'll make to your lifestyle.
One of the main things is,
you'll have to take the trays out
to eat something
and then you'll need to clean your teeth
and clean the trays
before you put them back in.
So the biggest thing I hear
is that it's a good diet
because it's hard to snack.
