I knew from pretty early on
that I wanted to be a dentist.
We had some family friends
that were dentists
and were great role models for me.
My dad was a veterinarian,
so I was exposed to a profession
where I was able to watch him interact
with people and help them out
with their needs and their pet's needs.
Dentistry appealed to me.
I like to work with my hands,
and the idea of just fixing things,
combined with really being able
to have an impact on people,
in a lot of ways
the immediate gratification.
I mean,
somebody comes in with a toothache.
I mean, a lot of times
you can pull the tooth or whatever it is
and take care of their problem.
There's just a lot about dentistry
that was very appealing to me.
